Bringing Families Back to the Dinner Table

Last night was a great night!  It was my second night home after being on the Gourmet Getaway and I was exhausted, having gone right back to work the first day home from the trip.  I was still recovering from so much fun!  I walked in the door to the smell of dinner almost ready ~ Italian Chicken in the slow cooker (a 4m4m meal), steamed squash and broccoli and some pasta.  I was tempted to take a plate to my room, eat while I changed for bed and then slip into a loooooooong night of sleep.  But the kids were setting the table and I really did want to hear about their days since I had been gone, so I sat down.  An hour later we were laughing, talking and having a great time.  I forgot I was tired!  Eventually the evening activities kicked in and they were off to play tennis and I made my way to that loooooooong night’s sleep I was craving earlier.

I love Homemade Gourmet!  Coming from me, that may sound strange…but honestly ~ if it wasn’t for the easy preparation our products offer, and the planning ahead our 4m4m facilitates, I am sure I would have missed that delightful hour with my kids.  Yes…I could make Italian chicken from scratch…but I wouldn’t if I was that tired.

Why do you love Homemade Gourmet?  I’d love to hear your stories!!!

 God Bless and Keep You,
Tami

Spooky Food

Some women might read that title and think, “Is she talking about the dinner I made last night??” Ha!

Can you believe that Halloween is right around the corner? I remember last year on this blog, there were loads of people who had some great ideas about some truly spooky recipes. I imagine that there will be many get togethers and parties being planned for the end of October.

I would also bet that there are loads of customers that would love a phone call or email with some suggestions for party menus. The obvious answers would be the Mock Spinach Dip, BLT Dip, Black Bean Salsa, White Pizza Dip and Buffalo Wing Sauce for the savory. Then don’t forget to make Cheesecake Balls for Basic Cheesecake, Chocolate Pecan Cheesecake, Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake and Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake for the sweets. Lots of choices for cookies and also the Chocolate Truffle Cake and the Carrot Cake with White Chocolate Icing.

Gosh, I am getting so hungry right now. Of course, every suggestion above is just a basic mix. I am sure that you creative types have concocted some fabulous party fare ideas. Would you share??

Let’s make every holiday party a Homemade Gourmet Holiday Party!

Cheers, Cindy

BREAD . . . It’s what’s for dinner.

I simply LOVE bread! MY favorite bread, hands down, is the Garlic Basil Mozzarella Bread. (In case my mother ever reads this, my favorite bread is her homemade yeast rolls . . . but those require way too much work on my part and so the chances of me making them are between slim and none.)

There is some diet out there (you can tell how much attention I pay to diet fads, ha!) that requires you to avoid “white” foods. That covers almost all my favorites which include bread, potatoes, pasta, rice . . . gravy (gravy at my house is white, not brown - we make cream or sawmill gravy). I would starve to death if I avoided the white foods!

Several years ago, Homemade Gourmet had a recipe card for Spaghetti Bread. The recipe called for the World Vision Basic Bread mix, the Homestyle Spaghetti sauce and the Italian Mozzarella Meatloaf mix. I LOVED this recipe card, if for no other reason that it required 3 mixes. Aside from that, it was a really unusual bread that had a very unique taste.

Question for you . . . Do you have a recipe for a really unusual bread or a bread that has a very unique taste?
