Black Bean Soup with Cilantro Citrus Cream


  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • ½ cup diced celery
  • ½ cup diced green bell pepper
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 Homemade Gourmet® Black Bean Salsa Mix
  • 4 tablespoons Homemade Gourmet® Cilantro Citrus Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 4 tablespoons non-fat sour cream


  1. In a saucepan, heat oil over medium heat, sauté onion, celery, and bell pepper until tender. Add chicken broth and salsa mix.
  2. Increase heat to high and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes or until beans are tender. Puree half of the soup in a blender and stir back into saucepan.
  3. In a small bowl, combine cilantro citrus seasoning, lime juice, and sour cream; stir until well blended.
  4. Serve soup warm in bowls with a dollop of cilantro citrus cream.
