Slow Cooker Chicken Recipe

Homemade Gourmet’s Slower Cooker Q&A:

What is the best way to prepare chicken breast in a slow cooker?

People who find themselves with little time in their day to cook will find this recipe easy to add to their busy schedule.  This meal idea is for boneless, skinless chicken breast using a slow cooker.  Now, I find boneless skinless chicken breast to be the most vanilla thing in the world. They’re so easy to serve too dry, too tasteless, or worst, too chewy – it’s a texture thing. This recipe is for people who crave flavorful chicken. 1 whole chicken breast 1 onion, sliced ½ cup of water 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter ½ teaspoon of salt Freshly ground black pepper, seasoned to taste 3 tablespoons Homemade Gourmet® Garlic Basil Seasoning 1. Place the chicken in the base of the cooker, arranging it so that the meat never overlaps each other. I’ve used both frozen and thawed in the past, so it comes down to whichever you prefer. 2. Sprinkle your Homemade Gourmet seasoning. Also sodium-free seasoning blends are a great alternative if you’re on a low-salt or salt-free diet. 3. Next add your liquids: the water, oil or butter. If you want a more unique flavor you can try white wine or lemon juice. If you want a more basic taste just use the water on its own.  Make sure you rotate the chicken so a thin coating gets on both sides keeping the chicken from sticking before cooking. 4. Turn the slow cooker on high for roughly 4-5 hours, or you can do a real slow cook for 8-10 hours on low. Cover the unit and walk away until mid-way through your time, then take a pair of tongs and flip the chicken, replace the lid and let it cook for the remaining time. 5. Once complete, turn your setting to warm or low, if the unit has a setting, and leave the lid sealed until ready to serve. Alternately, remove the chicken, on your cutting board slice into it and examine. The meat should be cooked, steaming through-and-through, ready for consumption.
